Mouhamed Dieng, the head of 1xbet Senegal, who initiated the proceedings against Lat Diop, the former minister and director general of Lonase, was questioned in detail on Monday by investigating judge Idrissa Diarra.
Les Echos, which reported the information, recalled that Dieng, "out of the country since the start of the proceedings, had missed the confrontations." The newspaper claims that the latter, "back in Senegal," maintained his accusations, reiterating his statements made to investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC).
"Following his hearing, he was allowed to return home," the source added. He believes he was "surely" notified "that he must remain at the judge's disposal" as part of the investigation into the case.
Prosecuted for extortion and embezzlement of public funds amounting to 8 billion CFA francs and relating to his time at Lonase, Lat Diop was charged and sent to prison last September on these charges following a denunciation by the boss of 1XBet in Senegal, Mouhamed Dieng.
The accused denies everything.
