We thought we were done with masks and hand sanitizer. But then a "foreigner" brings us a not-so-exotic souvenir... monkey pox! Result? One case, and already 25 contact cases identified. In our country, viruses don't even need to work hard; they quickly find a social network more efficient than WhatsApp. We really didn't need that. We don't have the means to respond... we already have to eat. Those most at risk are the doucouré team, the gorgorlou. We tighten our belts, we pay taxes for the rich, and we get by. No time for exotic diseases and barrier gestures. And if we're a country where social interactions are made and unmade around an ataya, the risk is there. A case becomes a cluster, the cluster becomes a region, and the region... well, you get the idea. In the meantime, we scrutinize the symptoms, note well: fever, fatigue, spots. In short, nothing very original, except that it can't be erased with a simple Instagram filter.
But perhaps the most worrying thing isn't the virus itself. It's our legendary approach to seriousness. How do we track the 25 contact cases? With a notebook, a pen, and a phone number that never answers? Or do we wait for everyone to declare themselves "cured by decoction" on TikTok? So, we hope the disease will be quickly circumvented. May Senegal be spared the worst. Because if Covid was a trial, monkeypox could be a catastrophe.

La question est qui a fait entrer cette maladie.
J’espère bien que c’est pas encore ces lapins qui nous emmerdent encore.
N’importe qui s’installe dans notre pays sans s’inquiéter au nom de la Teranga avec des frontières poreuses et sans contrôle.
Conséquence : Maladie importée , propagation rapide et incontrôlable, sans moyen de nos politiques de santé, et décès à la pelle.
