Tired of waiting for solutions to their daily difficulties, the inhabitants of Ndiaw Bambaly, a dynamic village in the commune of Diamagadio in the Kaffrine region, organized a peaceful march this Monday, June 23, 2025. This movement aims to alert the authorities to the glaring infrastructure deficiencies that hinder the development of this locality, despite its flourishing weekly market.
Exasperated by the lack of concrete solutions to their problems, residents of Ndiaw Bambaly, a village known for its bustling weekly market, held a peaceful march on Monday. Hundreds of protesters from surrounding hamlets marched through the streets, waving banners and placards, under the supervision of law enforcement, in a calm atmosphere.
"We don't have a middle school, and we're forced to combine elementary school with the CEM. The roads are in a disastrous state. During the rainy season, it's even worse," lamented Dr. Mbaye Dieng, spokesperson for the day and member of the village's Mutual Aid Association.
In addition to the shortcomings in education and road infrastructure, residents are denouncing the state of the bridge leading to the village, which has become impassable, especially during the rainy season. This is a major obstacle for a site where the weekly market attracts traders and visitors from across the region. "The Ndiaw Bambaly market is very lively, but the roads, and especially the bridge, in poor condition, hamper business, disrupt the transport of goods, and penalize women and young people," several protesters emphasized.
Despite this mobilization, residents insist on their desire to maintain peaceful dialogue. "We don't want confrontation. We just want to be heard. We ask the government to help us escape this precarious situation," added Dr. Mbaye Dieng.
The people of Ndiaw Bambaly intend to continue their mobilization as long as their demands remain unanswered. They are calling on local and national authorities to intervene quickly so that this village, rich in economic potential, is no longer neglected.
