Japon : Les enquêteurs accusent un ours, le retraité a en fait été tué de coups de couteau
Initially blamed on a bear attack, the death of a 93-year-old man led to the arrest of his son, suspected of stabbing him
A family tragedy disguised as an animal attack has rocked Akita Prefecture. Japanese police have finally arrested a 51-year-old man suspected of stabbing his 93-year-old father to death, after initially considering a bear attack.
According to The Japan Times, the suspect, identified as Fujiyuki Shindo, an unemployed man, was arrested Tuesday evening in the city of Daisen. Investigators suspect him of killing his father, Fujiyoshi Shindo, on Monday with a bladed weapon. Initially, the injuries on the body led authorities to consider an animal attack, a common occurrence in the region, before the nature of the wounds pointed to homicide.
Several knives seized at the victim's home
The tragedy occurred in the family home where the suspect lived with his parents. It was the 80-year-old mother who discovered her husband's lifeless body in a ground-floor bedroom when she returned home in the afternoon.
Several knives were seized from the home, and police are still trying to determine which one was used in the murder. Authorities have not yet said whether Fujiyuki Shindo has admitted the charges.
