Dix navires fantômes : deux DG entendus par la DIC, une troisième société mise en cause
The DIC has completed its investigation and handed the case over to the financial prosecutor's office. The case concerns the Customs complaint against the companies McDermott, Oma Senegal, and Oma Logistics. The former is the charterer of ten vessels for the GTA gas project; the latter were responsible for carrying out the corresponding customs formalities on its behalf. These companies are being prosecuted for tax evasion, failure to comply with commitments made, exporting without declaration, and failure to present goods under customs control. Customs accuses them of violating the terms of the agreement that allowed their vessels to benefit from exceptional temporary admission into Senegalese waters, accompanied by a suspension of entry duties and taxes. During an inspection, customs officials noted that the vessels, which were not present on national territory, had not paid their customs debt and had not received express authorization to exit. Further investigation revealed that six of the vessels anchored in Senegalese waters before leaving the territory without warning, while the other four never entered the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) where they were supposed to operate. To clarify this matter, the DIC heard the managing directors of Oma Senegal and Oma Logistics, Cooshna Sandeep and Emilie Suzanne Dépina, respectively, as well as McDermott's representative in Senegal, Moctar Faye.
