This Sunday, July 6, influencer and content creator Faynara posted a powerful message on her Instagram account: she has decided to no longer wear the hijab. A personal choice that she explained with sincerity in a nuanced text in which she asserts that she is not denying her faith, but responding to an inner need for alignment.

She states that "This decision is the result of an intimate, sincere, not perfect but deeply considered journey."

Faynara, followed by hundreds of thousands of people, insists that this is neither a rejection of Islam, nor a weakness, much less an external influence. Her message is intended to be respectful, addressed to those who have always supported her with love, faith, and kindness.

The post immediately sparked a reaction. Many Internet users expressed their understanding, praising her courage, transparency, and maturity. Many saw her approach as an act of spiritual honesty, without provocation.

"This is your path, no one has the right to judge you. May Allah continue to guide you," commented one subscriber.

But the wave of support hasn't stopped criticism from emerging, sometimes harsh, often moralizing. Some followers accuse her of influencing young girls to wear the hijab, only to now "set a bad example." Others accuse her of giving in to social pressure or a desire to "please."

"You were a role model for many, you are abandoning them," read several comments.

Some more religious or conservative profiles go so far as to say that she should have kept this choice to herself, judging this public declaration to be useless, even dangerous for the image of the veiled Muslim woman.

Whether or not we agree with her decision, Faynara's calm and assertive speech has certainly opened up space for reflection. A fragile but courageous statement in an often merciless digital world.
