Le PUR précise : « Aucun candidat n’a encore été désigné »
The Unity and Rally Party (PUR) has clarified the issue of internal candidate nominations. In a statement signed by its National Secretary General, Cheikh Ahmed Tidiane Youm, the party informed national and international opinion that no candidate has yet been nominated by the PUR President.
The document recalls that, in accordance with the texts governing the functioning of the party, no federation, including that of Dakar, has the prerogative to choose a candidate, whether collectively or through its federal office.
The PUR Secretary General in Dakar also has no authority to nominate a candidate on behalf of the party. This clarification, the press release emphasizes, also applies to all PUR section secretaries throughout the country.
The note concludes that the designation of a candidate for any election remains exclusively the responsibility of the President of the party, in his capacity as the person primarily responsible.
