Réussite du Plan de redressement économique et social : Le gouvernement sollicite les prières du khalife général des mourides
Under the chairmanship of Head of State Bassirou Diomaye Faye, in the presence of members of the government, civil society, Senegalese employers and foreign companies in Senegal, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko presented, on Friday, August 1, 2025, the Economic and Social Recovery Plan (PRES), called "Jubbanti Koom". An emergency strategy (2025-2028) which aims to revive and revitalize the Senegalese economy.
This Thursday, August 14, during the official closing ceremony of the 131st edition of the Grand Magal of Touba, a government delegation, led by Interior Minister Jean-Baptiste Tine, presented the PRES to the spokesperson of the Caliph of the Mourides, Serigne Bass Abdou Khadr. The government representative took the opportunity to request prayers from the Caliph for the success of this recovery plan.
Regarding water management (both the correct supply of drinking water and flood management), a headache for the holy city of Touba, despite the efforts of successive regimes, the government reiterated its commitments ensuring that the actions already taken will be reinforced.
"The efforts already undertaken in Touba in terms of access to drinking water, rainwater management and infrastructure modernization will be reinforced as part of the Religious Cities Modernization Program. We salute the resilience of the faithful in the face of the difficulties of the winter," declared the minister.
To the families of the 21 victims who died in various accidents during this Magal, the government expresses its compassion and calls on road users to exercise greater caution on the roads.

On dirait le Ministre des affaires religieuses, y en a que pour Gamou, magal, dahira, etc.... Arretez votre cirque et occupez vous de la securite publique un peu Mon General! Nitt yi sonneu na niou. Les agressions, les vols et viols, indiscipline bi ci talli bi, corruption des flics, rien n'a changé au contraire c'est pire que jamais... Vraimment on attendait beaucoup de vous mais on est franchement deçu !
