Diamaguène Sicap-Mbao: Un commerçant arrêté pour vente de viande impropre à la consommation

A large-scale operation carried out by the Diamaguène Sicap-Mbao district police station has put an end to a trade that is particularly dangerous to public health.

The case began thanks to the courage of an anonymous informant who alerted local police authorities to suspicious practices. This credible source, preferring to remain anonymous, informed the police that an individual based in Sam Sam 1 was allegedly engaged in an "illicit trade in unfit sheep meat" from an abandoned house.

Acting on this information, police officers from the Diamaguène Sicap-Mbao police station, led by Commissioner Cheikh Tidiane Diallo, set up a surveillance system. Their patience was rewarded when the informant contacted them by telephone to report the suspect's presence.

The man was seen aboard a cart unloading "a lifeless sheep from the Diamaguène ruminant fair." This real-time observation allowed law enforcement to intervene at the optimal time to establish the facts.

The search brigade's intervention at the abandoned house revealed the extent of the problem. On the scene, investigators discovered "a sheep that had died of suffocation and was half-skinned," confirming suspicions about the illegal nature of this activity.

This gruesome discovery bears witness to the deplorable hygiene conditions in which this clandestine trade was carried out, highlighting the considerable health risks for potential consumers.

Suspect caught in the act

The arrest took place without incident, allowing the identification of the suspect: I. Diagne, a 55-year-old trader living in Sam Sam 2. Confronted with the facts, the man initially tried to minimize his actions by declaring that "the meat was intended for his dogs."

This first version, unconvincing in view of the quantity and preparation of the meat discovered, did not resist the investigators' questions for long.

Damning evidence discovered

A thorough search of the home revealed even more incriminating evidence: bags of meat stored in a broken refrigerator. This discovery definitively destroyed the suspect's initial account of the meat's destination.

The presence of this prepared and packaged stock, kept in precarious conditions, confirms the existence of a real organized trade in meat unfit for consumption.

Full confessions under pressure of facts

Faced with this irrefutable evidence, I. Diagne finally admitted the reality of his activities. He acknowledged that this meat was indeed intended to "fill certain orders from his customers," revealing the existence of a distribution network.

I. Diagne was taken into custody on several charges: mistreatment resulting in death, attempted sale of unfit meat and endangering the lives of others according to Seneweb sources.
