Fortes précipitations à Thiès : Plusieurs quartiers en proie aux eaux pluviales
Impassable roads, several neighborhoods (Médina Fall, Keur Issa, Randoulène, Mbambara Alé Lô, Thialy) invaded by rainwater, several corners of the city flooded, motorists immobilized, no longer knowing which saint to turn to, among other damages. An indescribable scene following the heavy rainfall recorded in the city of the two stations, this Friday afternoon, August 22, 2025.
Following the heavy rains of the last few hours, the railway capital has once again experienced flooding and other inconveniences. Thiessois are almost universally fed up, and in desperation, they say they are "left to their own devices." Several neighborhoods of the city are under water. A sort of every-man-who-can situation in a city where people are struggling to overcome the fury of the waters.
Submerged concessions, vehicles submerged by water, impassable roads, flooded streets and avenues. In Thiès, the scene remains sickening. Almost everywhere, people are floundering. Left to their own devices, wrongly abandoned, the population is struggling to overcome the fury of the waters. On Avenue Léopold Sédar Senghor, a giant Caïcédrat tree was uprooted and collapsed on the building of the Hotel Les Délices, causing significant material damage.
In the city, the main arteries remain impassable because they are flooded, especially near the headquarters of the Rewmi party, the Cyber Campus, passing through the road to the Jules Sagna school, among others. Taximen and jakartamen avoid certain nooks and crannies of the city, such as the areas of Hersent (Thiès-Est), Médina Fall (Thiès-Nord), among the most affected by the waters.
In Thiès, there is total disarray. In the town with two train stations, every year, as soon as the first heavy rainfall hits, the people of Thiès return to their ordeal.
