After launching its activities on April 28, 2025, the National Network of Working Women of Senegal (RENAFETS) is taking action. During a workshop held this Friday, June 27, at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, RENAFETS pledged to advocate with Senegalese decision-makers to promote the installation of daycare centers in workplaces.
This initiative aims to ease the constraints on working women, promote their full participation in the labor market, and ensure the well-being of their children. Marième Pauline Cissé, a consultant for the Population Reference Bureau (PRB), explains:
"We organized a validation workshop to promote the opening of company-based daycare centers or community daycare centers. These childcare solutions, accessible to women in both the formal and informal sectors, would greatly relieve the burden on parents, especially women. Quality childcare services help balance work and family life, thus promoting the economic and social empowerment of women while ensuring the well-being of children."
In this ambitious project to promote nurseries and daycare centers in businesses and services, RENAFETS benefits from the support of the American organization Population Reference Bureau (PRB) and media professionals, who provide documentary research.
In addition to advocating for the installation of daycare centers in companies, RENAFETS also campaigns for the recognition of unpaid domestic work, another major challenge for working women.
