The presidential guard carried out a reconnaissance mission in Touba yesterday, Tuesday, in preparation for the pre-Magal visit of the President of the Republic scheduled for this Thursday.

Security device deployed

According to Seneweb sources, the Multi-Purpose Intervention Brigade (BIP) and the National Gendarmerie Intervention Group (GIGN) have already marked out the area under the supervision of the local special commissioner and the commander of the gendarmerie company.

This security mission comes less than 48 hours before the Head of State's pre-Magal visit, demonstrating the importance given to securing this official trip to the religious city.

Audience with the General Caliph

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is expected tomorrow, Thursday, August 7, at the residence of Serigne Bassirou Mbacké, where he will be received by the General Khalifa of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, from 5 p.m.

This presidential visit is part of the tradition of courtesy visits by the highest authorities of the State to religious leaders as a prelude to major spiritual events in the country.

Preparations for the Grand Magal

This hearing takes place in the context of preparations for the Grand Magal of Touba scheduled for August 13, 2025, which commemorates the departure into exile of Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba Khadim Rassoul.

The visit of the President of the Republic demonstrates the special attention that state authorities pay to this major religious event which brings together millions of pilgrims to Touba every year.
