Afrobasket masculin 2025 : Le Sénégal renverse le Mali et s’assure la deuxième place du groupe D
Trailing for three quarters, the Senegal Lions staged a spectacular comeback against Mali (80-70) this Saturday, during the final day of the group stage of the 2025 Men's Afrobasket. Thanks to this hard-won victory, Senegal is guaranteed to finish in second place in the group and qualify for the play-offs.
The start of the match, however, did not go in the Lions' favor. Facing an aggressive and well-positioned Malian team, the Senegalese quickly found themselves in difficulty. The Eagles took the lead in the first quarter (14-18), before widening the gap in the second (18-22). At halftime, Mali led logically by 42-32.
After the break, coach Desagana Diop's men tried to react. Despite a surge of energy and better ball circulation, the Malians managed to contain the Senegalese attacks, maintaining a 9-point advantage at the end of the third quarter (62-53).
But the final act was a wake-up call. The Lions completely turned the tables with an incredible 27-10 run in the final ten minutes. Senegal ultimately won 80-70, securing second place in their group.
