While AS Pikine had hoped to begin its winter preparations with peace of mind after securing its place in Ligue 1, the club is now rocked by a profound internal crisis. A standoff is pitting president Mamadou Gueye against his deputy president, Modou Fall, against a backdrop of tensions surrounding the coaching position, accusations of mismanagement, and fractured governance.

Everything changed after the team's coach and technical director, Lamine Diagne, claimed in the press that his transfer to Jaraaf Dakar had failed due to blockages orchestrated by Modou Fall.

The steering committee described the accusations as "very serious," denying any attempt at sabotage.

Club president Mamadou Gueye, for his part, recalled that Lamine Diagne remains under contract for two seasons and that his departure was never formally finalized between the two clubs.

Mamadou Gueye dismisses Modou Fall, who counterattacks

After being abroad for several months, Mamadou Gueye issued an official statement on August 17, 2025, announcing the dismissal of Modou Fall from his duties as deputy president. This decision, taken with immediate effect, aimed to restore order and keep Lamine Diagne at the helm of the team.

But Modou Fall didn't see it that way. Supported by several members of the steering committee, he called a meeting during which Massamba Cissé was appointed interim president, while he himself was reappointed. Two camps now face each other, with opposing visions and fragmented governance.

Modou Fall's version: "I lent 14 million to the club"

In a broadcast on Dsport, Modou Fall defended himself against the accusations against him. He claims to have personally lent 14 million CFA francs to AS Pikine during financial difficulties last year.

"I lent the team 14 million when they were going through a difficult period. Regarding the 24 million vehicle promised to the communications unit, it has already been paid for. All that remains is the administrative transfer for it to be officially made available," he declared.

A media release aimed at rehabilitating its image and countering suspicions of embezzlement circulating within the committee.

Executive committee member Alioune Diagne describes a toxic climate. According to him, a meeting lasting more than five hours failed to produce any decisions, despite a five-item agenda. The majority of members, he claims, support keeping Lamine Diagne as head coach.

He also questions the club's financial management, including: The 24 million CFA franc bonus for the communications vehicle. The second tranche of the 50 million CFA franc subsidy, the use of which remains unclear.

Amid ego clashes, a lack of clear leadership, and suspicions of mismanagement, AS Pikine is going through a critical period. Just weeks before the start of the season, no leadership has been officially recognized by all, and the coaching staff remains at the heart of tensions.

The supporters, already tested by a difficult season, observe with concern this climate of division which threatens both the sporting stability of the club and its institutional credibility.
