On his Instagram account this Tuesday, Paul Pogba posted a message to celebrate the birthdays of his brothers Florentin and Mathias. The latter was convicted last December for the attempted extortion of Paul Pogba.
"Long live my brothers." On his social media this Tuesday evening, Paul Pogba posted a photo of himself with Florentin and Mathias Pogba to celebrate his twin brothers' 34th birthday. The photo is obviously symbolic following the "organized extortion" case targeting "Pioche" in which Mathias was implicated.
On his Instagram account, Paul Pogba also posted a story showing himself during a FaceTime call with his brothers. As a reminder, Mathias Pogba received a three-year suspended prison sentence in December 2024, including two years suspended, for this attempted extortion of €13 million that targeted the current AS Monaco midfielder in 2022.
"There is a scar of course."
During the investigation, Mathias Pogba spent three and a half months in prison in the fall of 2022. "I matured, locked up there in a 9m² room. I became the man I need to become," he assured in recent months during an interview with the YouTube channel Oui Hustle. "There wasn't a day that went by that I wasn't called every name there was. Not a single day. 'Fdp,' ... everything. They banged on my cell: 'how could you do this to your brother?' Knowing that you know you didn't do anything. But the whole planet thinks you're the one behind it all. And you have to swallow that, every day. Everywhere."
A guest on TF1's Sept à Huit last June, Paul Pogba opened up about his relationship with his brother Mathias. "We talked among ourselves, with the family. Blood ties are blood ties," the 2018 world champion said. "There's a scar, of course. But we're moving forward. Only time can give us answers. It's true that we're in touch, and all we want is to always be united as a family. That's the most important thing. It's hard, of course. I'm not going to lie, I was hurt, it's normal, I'm a human being. It's not the same as before, but we're in touch."
