Mondial 2026 : les Lions s’entraînent ce lundi
In preparation for their final 2026 World Cup qualifying matches (matchdays 7 and 8), Senegal's national team begins its preparations this Monday. The Lions will train at the end of the day (5:30 p.m.) at the annex pitch of the Abdoulaye-Wade stadium in Diamniadio. "This session, as usual, will not be busy," predicts Record. "Indeed, many players played the day before, and then there are the flights they took."
The first trot for Pape Thiaw's men, the national coach, is open to the public. Part of the squad selected for the matches against Sudan (September 5 in Dakar) and the DRC (September 9 in Kinshasa) is expected to take part. A few Lions have already joined the Den, according to the specialist daily. "This is the case for the 'Saudis' Kalidou Koulibaly and Sadio Mané, who played on Friday," the sports newspaper reports. Mendy points out one uncertainty: "The Lions' number 1 goalkeeper was injured during the first day of the Saudi championship. His club, Al Ahli, is talking about a contusion, but does not consider the injury serious. The Royalists' captain was also out against Al Arabi yesterday [Sunday, August 31] in the King's Cup (5-0 victory). The situation is being closely monitored."
