NFL: Andy Reid, entraîneur des Kansas City Chiefs, visé par des tirs dans son bureau
The Kansas City Star revealed Thursday that a bullet was fired into Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid's office at the team's practice facility while he was inside. The incident reportedly dates back to May 2024.
It was a close call. According to a report published Thursday by The Kansas City Star, the Kansas City Chiefs' practice facility was targeted by three gunshots in May 2024, with one of the bullets reportedly missing Andy Reid, the team's coach, by just 15 feet. The newspaper reports that he was working alone in his office on the evening of May 4 when a bullet fired from outside the building shortly after midnight went through his office window and lodged in a wall between his bathroom and office door. The Kansas Chiefs have since installed bulletproof glass around his office.
Two other shots reportedly hit the facility: one aimed at the third floor, above Andy Reid's office, and the other struck an indoor air conditioner. No one was hit by the gunfire. Few people were aware of the incident, although several sources confirmed it to the newspaper. "For many Chiefs players and staff, The Star article will be the first time they've heard of the shots hitting the facility," it reads.
Investigation for aggravated assault
No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed in the case. The investigation is ongoing, including the location of the shooting, according to Kansas City police spokesman Captain Jacob Becchina, who said: "There is no indication that this was an incident directed at any person or organization. Because the building was occupied at the time the bullet went through the window, the investigation is open for aggravated assault."
Andy Reid has led the Chiefs to three Super Bowl titles since the 2019 season, the most recent coming at the end of the 2023 season. The 67-year-old coach coached the Eagles for 14 seasons before joining Missouri in 2013. The 2002 Coach of the Year award winner has 301 career wins, making him the fourth-winningest coach in league history and the first-most winningest coach in active coaching history.
