Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor : le retour des Lions encore reporté
The Senegal-Sudan match, scheduled for early September as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, will ultimately be played at the Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio, and not at the historic Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor as initially announced.
According to Le Quotidien, which provided the information, this postponement is explained by the fact that the Senghor stadium has not yet received approval from FIFA and CAF.
The national team could, however, make its big return in mid-October, during its final qualifying match against Mauritania, according to the same source.
As a reminder, closed for renovation since August 2022 and officially handed over to the Senegalese authorities last April, the former lair of the Senegal Lions reopened its doors on July 21 to host the Senegal Cup final.
