Grand Magal : 3158 gendarmes déployés, le Général Martin Faye reçu par Serigne Bassirou Mbacké Abdou Khadr

As the Grand Magal of Touba approaches, General Martin Faye, High Commander of the National Gendarmerie and Director of Military Justice, went to the field to personally supervise the system put in place to ensure the safety of the millions of pilgrims expected.

After inspecting the security measures deployed in the religious city, General Faye paid a courtesy visit to the General Khalifa of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké. This approach, in accordance with tradition, demonstrates the respect shown by civil and military authorities towards religious dignitaries during this major celebration.

The mission continued at the Khadim Rassoul residence, where the High Commander of the National Gendarmerie was warmly received by Serigne Bassirou Mbacké Abdou Khadr. This audience provided the senior security official with the opportunity to present in detail the resources mobilized for the success of the event.

Faced with the scale of the celebration commemorating the departure into exile of the founder of Mouridism, Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba, the police deployed considerable resources. General Martin Faye unveiled the impressive logistical and human arsenal mobilized for the occasion.

"3,158 gendarmes, 233 vehicles, and 102 motorcycles were mobilized for security coverage," announced the High Commander. These figures reflect the importance the State attaches to securing this major religious event, which attracts worshippers from all over Senegal and the sub-region.

Technological innovation in the service of security

One of the notable new features of this edition is the integration of modern technologies into the security system. Three drone teams have been specially deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow on the highway between Dakar and Touba. This technological innovation will enable continuous aerial surveillance and rapid intervention in the event of a problem on strategic roads.

"The system has been strengthened this year," General Faye stressed, demonstrating the authorities' desire to constantly adapt their resources to the growing challenges of organizing an event of this magnitude.

The welcome extended to General Martin Faye and his delegation illustrates the quality of relations between civil and religious authorities in Senegal. The spokesperson for the General Khalifa of the Mourides did not fail to praise the commitment of the high commander of the gendarmerie, offering praise for him.
