Lancement du SIDIA à Diamniadio : Mobiliser la diaspora pour construire un Sénégal souverain et solidaire

Senegal launched, this Wednesday, August 6, 2025 in Diamniadio, the first edition of the International Investment Fair of the African Diaspora (SIDIA), scheduled in Geneva on September 26, 27 and 28, 2025. This ceremony marks a key step in the mobilization of the African diaspora to support structuring projects in the sectors of housing, agriculture and industry, in alignment with the Senegal 2050 vision.

An unprecedented intersectoral dynamic

SIDIA, which focuses primarily on agriculture and housing, aims to bring together government stakeholders, the African diaspora, and private partners to address the challenges of financing, urban transformation, and regional planning. The Director General of Construction and Housing emphasized that this exhibition is "designed as a lever for economic transformation, in line with the structuring projects led by the government and its partners."

Driven by a government vision embodied by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and implemented by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, SIDIA brings together the Ministries of Urban Planning, Industry, Trade, and Agriculture around a common goal: to make Senegal a sovereign, sustainable, and attractive investment hub. "Every home delivered, every building constructed, every neighborhood redeveloped must be seen as an economic asset, an investment, not an expense," insisted the Director General of Construction and Housing.

A platform for concrete investments

Designed as a strategic platform, SIDIA aims to channel concrete investments by connecting Senegalese project leaders, local authorities, real estate developers, industrialists, and representatives of the diaspora. Through conferences, exhibitions, and targeted networking spaces, the event aims to create effective bridges between mature projects and financial partners.

Faced with the limitations of public funding, the government is promoting an approach based on productive investment, emphasizing profitability, social impact, and local transformation. SIDIA is thus part of a logic of public-private partnerships and the mobilization of diaspora resources to support structuring projects, such as the development of the Diamniadio urban center, which integrates initiatives such as the Digital Technology Park and modern infrastructure for housing and industry.
