Magal : Maïmouna Dièye apporte 300 tonnes de riz et soutient 5 000 ménages sinistrés

On the eve of the 130th edition of the Grand Magal of Touba, scheduled for August 13, 2025, the Minister of Family and Solidarity, Maïmouna Dièye, accompanied by a large delegation, was received on Friday, August 8 by the General Caliph of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, and his spokesperson, Serigne Bassirou Mbacké Abdou Khadr. She handed over a substantial contribution, including 300 tons of rice, a financial endowment, and logistical equipment to support the organization of the event.

Courtesy visits to dignitaries

As part of this visit, Maïmouna Dièye visited Sokhna Bally Mountakha, Serigne Fallou Mbacké Souhibou and Serigne Abdou Karim Mbacké Falilou in Ndindy, providing material and financial support at each stage. "We are in Touba for a courtesy visit to the Caliph and the Mbacké family, with a supply of food, equipment and logistics to contribute to the Magal," she said.

A substantial material contribution

The delegation provided significant support, including:

- Foodstuffs: 300 tons of rice, hundreds of bottles of water, bags of macaroni, bags of mouhamssa, crates of spaghetti.

- Hygiene products and various materials: thousands of bottles of liquid soap, hundreds of hand-washing devices (basins and satalas), kettles, mats, fans, umbrellas, crates of bleach and Madar detergent.

Maïmouna Dièye stressed that this initiative is in line with the directives of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko: "It is the government's duty to ensure the smooth running of Magal, a major event for all Senegalese."

Support for 5,000 disaster-stricken households

The minister announced an assistance program for flood victims, particularly in the Nguiranène and Keur Niang neighborhoods of Touba. Starting the following Monday, the National Solidarity Fund (FSN), headed by Baïdy Niang, will distribute cash transfers to approximately 5,000 households: 200,000 CFA francs for those registered in the Single National Register (RNU) and 150,000 CFA francs for other affected households. This program, supported by the Senegalese Urban Modernization Program (PROMOVILLES), the Emergency Community Development Program (PUDC), and the Senegalese Agency for Universal Health Coverage (Sen-CSU), aims to provide relief to the affected populations during the Magal.

Device for lost children

The ministry, through the Department for the Promotion of Children's Rights and Protection (DPDPE) and the GINDDI Center, will set up a system to care for children who go astray during the Magal. A toll-free number, 116, will be available to report or search for a child. In addition, an innovation has been announced: the ministry will install a marquee to strengthen the organization of the event.

"We came to strengthen the Magal's organizational structure to enable people to celebrate in peace, joy, and serenity," concluded Maïmouna Dièye, requesting prayers for the work of the Diomaye-Sonko tandem. This visit is part of a dynamic of national solidarity, reaffirming the ministry's commitment to supporting major religious events to promote social cohesion and lasting peace in Senegal.

In response, the General Khalifa and his spokesperson expressed their gratitude and satisfaction to the minister and her delegation.

Les Oustaz, on ne les aide aucunement dans ce pays. Pourtant c'est l'argent des Sénégalais et ils sont Sénégalais comme tout le monde.
Il y'en a qui amassent des milliards avec ces événements actuels. On en a marre.
