Guerre au Moyen-Orient: Le Ghana saisit l’ONU après des tirs de missiles sur ses soldats au Liban
The war raging in the Middle East has not spared Ghana. The country recently protested to the United Nations against missile attacks on the headquarters of the Ghanaian battalion serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
"The Ghanaian government strongly condemns this attack..."
Accra reports that two of its soldiers were seriously injured and another traumatized in the attacks, which also destroyed the officers' mess. It is calling for an investigation to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
“The Government of Ghana strongly condemns this attack and demands that those responsible be identified and brought to justice following an immediate, thorough, impartial and transparent investigation, as this attack constitutes a grave violation of international law and a war crime,” wrote Ghanaian Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in a letter of protest to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Accra also urged the United Nations to take urgent measures to ensure the safety of all peacekeeping personnel, including members of the Ghanaian contingent serving in this mission.
