Guinée-Bissau : L’évêque de Bafatá exhorte les jeunes à faire face aux défis mondiaux
In Bafatá, during the 25th anniversary jubilee of the diocese on Sunday, April 26, 2026, Bishop Dom Vítor Luís Quematcha placed youth at the heart of his homily. He called on young people to make Christ a lifelong commitment and to embody truth and justice in a society searching for direction.
A call to the youth
In his homily, Dom Quematcha reminded the congregation that Christ is not merely a religious emotion, but a concrete guide for life. He urged young people not to give in to discouragement and to remain resilient in the face of global challenges.
Values to transform society
The prelate stressed the importance of clear choices: truth rather than lies, justice rather than corruption.
According to him, these values are essential to building a more humane and united society in the context of Guinea-Bissau.
The family, a pillar of faith
Welcoming the presence of families who came to celebrate the jubilee, the bishop emphasized their central role in the transmission of faith, love and a sense of responsibility.
A jubilee marked by communion
The closing Mass, presided over by the Apostolic Nuncio Waldemar Sommertag, marked the culmination of the celebrations for the diocese's 25th anniversary and the 9th Interdiocesan Youth Day. Dom Quematcha also spoke of the 40 years of diplomatic relations between Guinea-Bissau and the Holy See, as well as Radio Sol Mansi's contribution to peace and fraternity.
This jubilee reaffirmed the Church's place as a force for peace and hope in Guinea-Bissau, reports the newspaper "O Democrata".
