Guinée : la vérité sur le décès de Lanciné Konaté, faussement présenté comme agent Croix-Rouge

A persistent rumor has been swirling in the rural commune of Kondiaran, located 25 km from Mandiana in Upper Guinea, since the death of Lanciné Konaté this weekend. Contrary to the allegations circulating, according to which he was lynched by the population for a romantic affair and presented as a Red Cross agent, the local authorities and the humanitarian organization are providing clarifications. The Red Cross denies any connection with the victim. Aboubacar Donzo, secretary general of the Kankan Regional Red Cross, wanted to set the record straight: "Lanciné Konaté was not an active Red Cross volunteer. He had only completed training in first aid in the event of a landslide in the mines, for which he received a certificate and a membership card, but he was not integrated into our workforce." An emotional altercation at the origin of the tragedy According to testimonies collected by the Red Cross and local sources, the death resulted from an emotional altercation. Lanciné Konaté allegedly attempted to assault a woman, with whom he was having a relationship, at the Kondiaran health center. "Witnesses report that he wanted to hit her. Bystanders intervened and hit him in turn. Seriously injured, he collapsed," explains Mr. Donzo. Transferred to the prefectural hospital in Mandiana, then to Kankan, where he died. The sub-prefect rejects the lynching theory. The sub-prefect of Kondiaran, Lieutenant Moussa Magassouba, disputes the version of a mob lynching: "Rumors spread quickly in Kondiaran. In reality, Lanciné Konaté went to the health center to assault a woman. The officers on site intervened. While trying to escape, he fainted. Taken into care, he was transferred to Mandiana, then to Kankan, where he died." The medical report is clear; speculation must be avoided. Drug addiction: an aggravating factor. A common point emerges from the various testimonies: Lanciné Konaté was known for his regular use of narcotics, a factor that could explain his behavior during the incident. This issue highlights the impact of drugs in the region's mining areas. An investigation to establish the facts. This tragedy highlights several issues: the rapid spread of false information, the influence of narcotics in mining communities, and the need to verify facts before they are disseminated. A thorough investigation is underway to determine the exact responsibilities. The authorities call for calm and respect for the memory of the deceased.
