3e édition du festival « Égalité en lumière » : l’urgence d’intégrer les femmes dans les secteurs technologiques

Strengthening women's entrepreneurship and access to future-oriented sectors were at the heart of the third edition of the "Equality in the Spotlight" festival, held this Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Théodore Monod Museum of African Art. Conceived as an extension of International Women's Day, the event goes far beyond mere symbolism. It showcases a dynamic ecosystem where local associations, Senegalese institutions, and international partners are developing concrete solutions to sustainably transform the lives of women and girls.

Present at the event, the French Ambassador to Senegal, Christine Fages, praised a platform that "showcases the full diversity of the ecosystem supporting women entrepreneurs" as well as the strength of the partnerships established. Among the flagship projects presented at this edition, the "Pink Card" application stands out as a major innovation. This digital tool lists nearly 400 women's support organizations across Senegal's 14 regions, allowing each user to quickly locate services tailored to her specific needs.

The festival also featured a strong on-the-ground presence with booths from organizations such as Info Elles, the National Observatory for Gender Equality (ONP), and Polaris Asso. These organizations highlighted entrepreneurship and the growing involvement of women in the digital economy. A key moment of this edition was the panel discussion entitled "Women in Entrepreneurship: Combining Technology, Social Impact, and Economic Sovereignty," which shed light on the challenges and opportunities related to women's access to cutting-edge sectors.

In a context where scientific fields remain predominantly male, the French diplomat emphasized the urgent need for better female representation in technology and artificial intelligence, considered the pillars of tomorrow's economy. Initiatives such as the Women's Amusement Club and Teranga Tech Hub are already working on the ground to encourage and support women in these still underrepresented areas, thus affirming that technology is a strategic lever for the continent's economic sovereignty.
