Santé en Afrique : Comment le projet "Oasis 2.0" veut révolutionner la lutte contre les pandémies

Faced with the increasing number of health crises on the continent, such as Ebola and COVID-19, experts are emphasizing the need to anticipate rather than react. This approach relies on establishing early warning systems, leveraging health data, and mobilizing qualified African experts. “We must prepare our health systems to respond effectively to pandemics. This requires alert units, data analysis, and experts capable of anticipating early warning signs,” stresses Ousmane Amadou Sy, president of OASYS.

.

On Thursday in Dakar, he officially launched his new strategy, dubbed "Oasis 2.0." This initiative aims to fundamentally transform the approach to technical assistance in Africa, particularly in managing health crises. The culmination of 15 years of experience, Oasis 2.0 represents a strategic evolution that combines local expertise with digital tools. The objective is clear: to improve the implementation of development projects in order to produce a concrete and measurable impact on populations. "What is lacking in many programs is implementation. We want to provide results-oriented and impact-driven technical assistance," explained Mr. Sy. This vision is also part of a comprehensive approach integrating the links between health, climate, and the environment, in accordance with the "One Health" concept. The goal is to support African states in building resilient and sovereign systems.

Investing in African expertise

At the heart of this strategy, OASYS asserts a strong conviction: Africa possesses the talent necessary to meet its own challenges. The company advocates for greater recognition of local skills in the design and implementation of public policies. "Africa doesn't need to be shown the way; it needs actors capable of building it," affirms Ousmane Amadou Sy, calling for genuine sovereignty based on African human capital.

For her part, Dr. Safiatou Thiam, Executive Secretary of the CNLS, emphasized the importance of high-quality technical support to strengthen health systems. She reiterated that the challenge lies not only in the design of strategies, but also in their effective implementation. In a context of limited resources and increased performance demands, organizations like OASYS emerge as key partners. Their approach, combining centers of excellence, digitalization, and field expertise, offers concrete solutions tailored to local realities, according to Dr. Thiam.

Ultimately, the Oasis 2.0 initiative embodies a new dynamic in managing health crises in Africa. It emphasizes rigorous methods, strong partnerships, and the ability to translate ambitions into tangible results. According to Dr. Mamadou Dieng, who represented the Minister of Health and Social Action, this is "a significant challenge, but essential for building more resilient health systems better prepared for the crises of tomorrow."
