Prise de parole en public : l’Université de Thiès outille ses étudiants
Public speaking remains a major challenge in universities. At Iba Der Thiam University of Thiès (UIDT), the Innovation and Inclusion Committee aims to overcome this obstacle by focusing on developing students' confidence and oral communication skills.
In this spirit, the institution organized, from April 23 to 25, 2026, days dedicated to innovation, knowledge sharing, and social cohesion. The objective is to strengthen students' transferable skills, particularly their ability to speak in public.
During these three days, several initiatives were put in place to encourage oral expression. Among them, "debate" sessions offered students a framework for exchange, allowing them to speak, compare their ideas and gain confidence in front of an audience.
For Thierno Amadou Ndiaye, a lecturer and researcher at UIDT, who is also the Director of Integration and Relations with Businesses and coordinator of the Innovation and Inclusion Committee, these activities are part of a comprehensive vision. "It's about promoting an inclusive, innovative, and civic-minded university. These are three days of connection with the university community around diverse themes," he explained.
Beyond learning public speaking skills, the program has incorporated social and civic actions, including awareness sessions against reprehensible acts.
Through these initiatives, UIDT affirms its commitment to becoming more open to its environment. "The university must be at the service of and attentive to its community," insisted Thierno Amadou Ndiaye.
