UCAD, bourses familiales, handicap et emploi: les nouvelles annonces fortes de Diomaye Faye
The recent tensions at Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD) were addressed by the president in his speech on the eve of Independence Day. The head of state acknowledged the weaknesses of the higher education system, emphasizing that "with the increasing student population, the infrastructure deficit, and the shortage of teachers, the challenges are numerous." In response to this situation, he announced a comprehensive overhaul through national consultations and a transformation agenda aligned with the Senegal 2050 vision.
The Head of State also reaffirmed his commitment to vulnerable groups, particularly people with disabilities. Thousands of beneficiaries have been integrated into social protection programs, with a focus on universal health coverage and access to employment. Regarding family allowance programs, adaptive protection mechanisms are also being strengthened to address economic and climate shocks.
Bassirou Diomaye Faye also called for national unity. Sixty-six years after independence, he urged Senegalese citizens to preserve the republican heritage and to embrace a collective approach. "Unity is a duty," he insisted, reminding them that every citizen has a role to play in building the country's future.
