Décès de Serigne Moustapha Xassid : la communauté mouride en deuil
The Mouride community is in mourning following the passing of Serigne Moustapha Xassid, son of Serigne Abdourahmane Mbacké. The religious leader died in the night of Thursday, March 12th to Friday, March 13th in Touba, causing deep sorrow among the faithful and the wider Mouride family.
Grandson of the founder of Mouridism, Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Mbacké, Serigne Moustapha Xassid was a respected figure within the brotherhood. Known for his great piety and his deep attachment to the Xassida, the religious poems of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Mbacké, he eventually became known as "Xassid" by his relatives and disciples.
Throughout his life, he distinguished himself by his commitment to the service of Islam and the spiritual legacy of Serigne Touba. His journey, marked by devotion, religious teaching, and service to the community, had made him a respected and influential guide.
Serigne Moustapha Xassid was buried on Friday night in Touba, in the presence of many faithful, relatives and religious dignitaries who came to pay him a last tribute.
His passing leaves a great void within the Mouride community, which pays tribute to the memory of a man of faith, deeply attached to the values and teachings of Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba Mbacké.
