U.A-Droits humains : Le juge sénégalais Idrissa Sow élu président de la CADHP
Senegalese judge Idrissa Sow has been elected Chairperson of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (ACHPR). Responsible for promoting and protecting human rights on the African continent, the ACHPR is a key organ of the African Union.
Based in Banjul (Gambia), the commission, now headed by Judge Sow, ensures the implementation of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights, the main regional legal instrument for the promotion and protection of human rights in Africa.
This election is a symbol of recognition of Senegalese leadership in matters of justice and fundamental rights.
