"Une position historique" : l'Iran applaudit Ousmane Sonko après sa sortie virulente contre Trump
The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Senegal has expressed its support for the statements made by Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. The diplomatic mission believes that the head of the Senegalese government is "adopting a historic position and embarrassing the leaders of the Arab world's protectorates!"
Continuing its analysis, the embassy emphasizes that "Trump is not a man of peace, but rather a man who destabilizes the world." The tweet concludes by criticizing the silence of certain countries: "Here, I remain silent while observing the leaders of Arab countries suffer the most serious forms of insult from Trump on a daily basis, despite all the concessions made!"
During his conference alongside geopolitician Pascal Boniface on Thursday, April 9, 2026, Ousmane Sonko did not mince his words towards the American president.
The Prime Minister notably described Donald Trump as a "dangerous" man for global stability, denouncing a diplomatic approach based on confrontation rather than dialogue. He also deplored the treatment of certain Arab countries, arguing that they are often humiliated by the American administration despite their strategic alignment.
Finally, Sonko used this example to illustrate the need for countries in the South to free themselves from control and no longer submit to the dictates of foreign leaders, regardless of their economic or military weight.
