Tambacounda : Les agents de « Xeyu Ndaw Gni » exposent leurs difficultés au ministre de l'Environnement
The Minister of the Environment's visit to the Tambacounda region was anything but restful. While on official business, Abdourahmane Diouf took the opportunity to meet with staff of the "Xeyu Ndaw Gni" program. This meeting allowed the workers to explain the precarious conditions they face.
“As fathers and mothers, this situation is becoming difficult to bear,” said their spokesperson, Sidiki Dia. He noted that this payment delay is a recurring problem every year, with delays ranging from three to four months after each contract renewal.
The spokesperson also mentioned the non-payment for the last month of the previous contract (December), as well as the critical lack of protective equipment for field workers. However, he maintained that the program continues to demonstrate a positive impact, particularly in environmental protection and improving the living conditions of local populations.
The Minister's promises to regularize
In his response, the Minister sought to reassure everyone. Abdourahmane Diouf announced that the December payment would be made during the week, while the three-month delay related to the new contract would be resolved before the end of April. Regarding equipment, he assured that it would be made available to staff before May.
These announcements were met with satisfaction by the staff, who praised the availability of their supervising minister and the quality of his listening to their demands.
