Saensoutou : Le GARSI 2 intensifie la surveillance de la Falémé et frappe l’orpaillage illégal
The intervention by the security forces resulted in the destruction of two dredges used in the fraudulent exploitation of gold on the river, as well as the seizure of two motor pumps used for extraction operations.
This action is part of a sustained fight against illegal gold mining, a phenomenon that continues to threaten the environmental balance of the Falémé, while fueling informal networks with worrying security consequences.
Through this operation, the GARSI 2 of Saensoutou confirms its active presence on the ground and its determination to protect natural resources, to curb the degradation of the river ecosystem and to enforce regulations in this strategic area of eastern Senegal.
Surveillance operations should continue in order to contain the expansion of illegal activities and to sustainably secure the area around the Falémé.
