The land dispute between the company Quality Vegetables Senegal (QVS) and the real estate firm 'Nouvelle Ville' is far from over. Despite a presidential decree authorizing QVS to continue its agricultural operations on the contested plot, the conflict appears to be taking a new turn.

During a press briefing, Ndiaga Diaw, president of the Agriculture and Livestock Commission of the Thiès Departmental Council, announced that 'Nouvelle Ville' continues to employ maneuvers aimed at obstructing QVS's activities.

According to him, the situation has persisted for several years in the department, where QVS has been farming a 110-hectare plot since 2019, which was integrated into the national domain after being reclaimed by the state.

Mr. Diaw reiterated that a decree from the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, authorized QVS to continue its operations. He considers this a clear decision that, in his view, grants no rights to 'Nouvelle Ville'.

Yet, Ndiaga Diaw denounced, on April 15, 2026, QVS received a summons from the Mbour court ordering it to pay 45 million FCFA to 'Nouvelle Ville', corresponding to 90 days of alleged arrears covering the period from January 15 to April 15, 2026.

The president of the Agriculture and Livestock Commission considers this court decision incomprehensible, believing it contradicts the presidential decree. "On the contrary, it is 'Nouvelle Ville' that should compensate QVS for the damages suffered," he stated.

Faced with this situation, he calls on state authorities to intervene and resolve the dispute. He asserts that the disagreement remains unresolved and denounces pressure being exerted by the Mbour court on the agricultural company.

The local official also warned that QVS does not intend to comply with this judicial decision and will not pay a single cent to the other party. According to Ndiaga Diaw, legal actions are being considered against 'Nouvelle Ville', which he accuses of causing significant damage and harming interests deemed strategic for Senegal.
