Le Sénégal en mode turbo-pétrole, l'industrie manufacturière à l'arrêt
In the second quarter of 2025, Senegalese industrial production recorded a spectacular increase of 29.3% compared to the same period in 2024, according to the ANSD, as published in the Note on Recent Economic Developments (NEER) for the second quarter of 2025. This performance was driven by the rise in oil extraction (+101.3%), which largely explains the 26.5% increase in industrial production in the first half of 2025. Excluding extractive activities, industrial production only increased by 2.5% in the first half, highlighting the central impact of the oil sector in the overall dynamic.
This growth was supported by the electricity, gas and water sectors, illustrating the direct effect of the country's entry into the hydrocarbon era.
However, this improvement masks weaknesses: manufacturing declined by 1.7%, affected by the contraction in chemical, mineral, and agri-food activities. This contrast reveals a persistent structural imbalance between the extractive and productive sectors.
The challenge for Senegal now is to channel oil-generated growth into sustainable industrial development by strengthening local processing, diversifying manufacturing activities, and promoting integration into regional and global value chains. This is a crucial challenge for ensuring that energy prosperity translates into shared wealth and quality jobs.

Boff , c'est le règne des médiocres, en moins de 2 ans tout est à terre.heureusement que le petrole et le gaz ont commencé à être exploité sinon ca allait être terrible.

Si le petrole et le gaz ne peuvent pas tirer les autres maillons et particulierement l'industrie autant fermer les puits tout de suite. Sinon on est dans le scenario des autres pays africains producteurs: pauvrete, non emploi.
J'aime bien le modele de Dubai: j'ai le petrole, donc l'energie, je vais chercher la bauxite en guinee pour devenir le premier producteur d'aluminium.
Resultats tout le monde va a Dubai pour se reposer ou se soigner y/c les dirigeants de nos pays producteurs. Et pourtant c'est un pays desertique, compare a nos sites paradisiaques de Casamance, Iles du Saloum et autres.
