Meeting in a Regional Development Committee (CRD) dedicated to the cashew sector and the Southern Agropole, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Serigne Guèye Diop, announced the withdrawal of the 20 CFA franc tax initially planned on cashew exports. This decision, according to Libération, "reflects the government's commitment to prioritizing dialogue with stakeholders in the sector" in order to maintain its competitiveness, while continuing discussions on sustainable financing mechanisms for the sector and strengthening local processing.
The minister also reaffirmed the State's commitment to industrialization through the promotion of national production, the creation of added value and the maintenance of foreign currency in the Senegalese economy.
Regarding the Southern Agropole, the daily newspaper reports that he invited the private sector to seize the opportunities offered by this structuring project, which represents a total investment of 90 billion CFA francs. In Adéane, the infrastructure is now operational and ready to welcome companies wishing to contribute to Senegal's economic transformation.
