Scandale des 27 millions à la Mairie de Ziguinchor : Djibril Sonko se dédouane et pointe les activistes
Ziguinchor Mayor Djibril Sonko has broken his silence in an exclusive interview with Kéwoulo TV, vigorously defending himself against accusations related to the alleged financial scandal involving 27 to 33 million CFA francs at the town hall, which he inherited after the resignation of Ousmane Sonko, the current Prime Minister. The mayor denies all responsibility and accuses activists, particularly Amadou Tom Mbodj, of exaggerating the baseless scandal.
According to Djibril Sonko, the alert about this embezzlement was transmitted to him by a tax collector, appointed shortly after his arrival in 2024, who noted a financial discrepancy in the year-end balance sheet. "This case concerns a city hall employee assigned to collection, not the management of the city hall's finances," he said, stressing that the problem dates back to previous irregularities.
He claims to have acted promptly by suspending the incriminated agent by decree and demanding reimbursement of the sum, in accordance with legal procedures, contradicting the allegations that he had sought to cover up the affair. The mayor directly attacks Amadou Tom Mbodj, the source of the public revelation, whom he accuses of having rushed things without understanding the ins and outs. "He rushed to reveal everything in public," he criticized, believing that the responsibility fell to the tax collector, the sole guarantor of revenue, and not to him or the town hall.
Sonko believes activists and social media have distorted the situation, turning internal management into a media scandal. This stance has reignited the debate on transparency in local authorities as the investigation progresses. While Sonko presents himself as irreproachable, persistent accusations and ongoing investigations could still reveal flaws, casting doubt on the municipal management inherited from the previous era.

non franchement ce pays est foutu. Comment une grande ville comme Ziguinchor, avec tout ce qu'elle regorge comme cadres, intellectuels et hommes de de grandes valeurs, a pu se retrouver entre les mains de ce bougre. Mais bon puisque tout le pays a su suivre un vendeur de vent, qui n'a aucun parcours sinon la délation, le mensonge et le dénigrement, ceci explique cela.
Quand on a le cul un peu sale on évite de prendre son caleçon en photo.
