Police officers from the Grand Yoff Police Station's Research Brigade arrested a 24-year-old man in possession of drugs. F. Ngom, who was riding a motorcycle near the Grand Mosque, was carrying two balls of hashish and 19,000 CFA francs, likely from drug sales.

The operation is part of a regular mission of the Research Brigade. Police officers from the Grand Yoff police station are conducting their patrol to combat drug trafficking and consumption in their area.

Their attention turned to the area surrounding the Grand Yoff Mosque, a popular tourist destination. There, they spotted an individual whose behavior aroused their suspicions.

The man in question was riding a Jakarta motorcycle. The officers decided to conduct a routine check, a common practice in this type of patrol. The driver identified himself as F. Ngom, 25, according to Seneweb sources.

But something about the 24-year-old's demeanor caught the attention of the police. His behavior seemed strange, perhaps nervous. Faced with these warning signs, they decided to investigate further.

The agents carry out a regulatory security pat-down.

On F.Ngom, they discovered two compromising elements:

Two balls of hashish, clear proof of possession of narcotics and a sum of 19,000 CFA francs, composed precisely of:

- A 10,000 franc note

- Four 2,000 franc notes

- A 1,000 franc note.

Arrested on the spot, F. Ngom was subjected to preliminary questioning. Confronted with the material evidence discovered on him, the accused admitted the facts with which he was charged.

But his explanation for the drug's origin remains vague. He claims that the hashish was given to him by a friend living in a council house.

The procedure is proceeding as usual. The prosecutor's office is immediately informed of the arrest and the nature of the items seized. F. Ngom is notified of his rights in accordance with the law.

The young man was then taken into custody at the Grand Yoff police station.
