“I first encountered Mame Less through his luminous “Chronicles of Abdou Sow.” As a lover of fine literature, I was immediately captivated: he belonged to that breed of men who know exactly what “speaking” means. Then, fate granted me the privilege of knowing him personally. Very quickly, he took such a central place in my life that I no longer undertook anything important without discussing it with him.”

This nostalgic testimony comes from Talla Sylla, the former mayor of Thiès and advisor to the President of the Republic. The politician continues his story with emotion: “Mame Less was fundamentally GOOD. Good as a human being, an exceptional communicator, and a brilliant analyst. He possessed that rare ability to dissect the most complex realities and present them with exceptional clarity. He exuded such intellectual and human presence that he almost made me forget he was mortal.”

The former mayor of Thiès also evokes a deeply moving personal memory, linked to a date forever etched in his mind: October 5, 2003. On that day, having nearly lost his life, Talla Sylla recalls that Mame Less Camara was the very last person to interview him at the Envi FM studios in the Maristes neighborhood. As he walked him home after the broadcast, the elder statesman whispered these words to him: “You’ve become very structured. What you said during the half-hour devoted to Wolof is exactly what you said in French.”

For Talla Sylla, this compliment from a master of words still resonates today as a consecration. He believes that Mame Less deserves a tribute commensurate with the indelible mark he left on the media landscape and in the hearts of the Senegalese people. "He was the best one could hope for in a human being," he concludes, before offering fervent prayers for the repose of his soul: "Di la ñaanal ba faww."
