Meurtre de Modou Mbacké Ndiaye : l'hébergeur de l'un des meurtriers déféré par la police de Yeumbeul-Comico
Nearly a year after the murder of an armored truck driver in the Afia 6 district, the Yeumbeul-Comico police station brought a new suspect before Prosecutor Saliou Dicko on Wednesday. A look back at a case with numerous twists and turns.
June 5, 2025: A cash-in-transit driver killed for his company's daily takings
It all began on June 5, 2025, at around 10 p.m. The Yeumbeul-Comico police station was alerted: individuals on motorcycle scooters had just attacked a man with a knife in front of his home in the Afia 6 district, before fleeing with his bag containing more than eight million CFA francs.
The victim was Modou Mbacké Ndiaye, born in 1988 in Belel Diop, a cash courier for a local company. He had just transported his employer's daily takings when he was brutally attacked and left bleeding profusely. Rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries that same night.
The investigation: seven arrests and one fugitive
The ensuing investigation led to the arrest and arraignment of seven suspected murderers and accomplices. During his interrogation, one of them, identified by the initials MN, provided crucial information: after the murder, he took refuge in Bambilor at the home of a man named A. Ndao. He stated that after dividing the loot with his accomplices, he received 1,300,000 CFA francs, a portion of which he gave to his host. Even worse, he revealed that the latter had allegedly suggested he use this money to pay a marabout (a traditional healer) to cover up the crime.
A search was immediately conducted at A. Ndao's home in Bambilor, in the presence of M. Ndiaye and a roommate. The suspect, however, managed to escape. The operation nevertheless resulted in the seizure of twenty-nine pairs of shoes, forty-four caps, a black balaclava, a 55-inch Deska flat-screen television, a home theater system, and two fans.
The fugitive caught by justice
Thanks to wanted notices and information gathered, investigators learned that A. Ndao had been arrested and brought before the Diamaguène Sicap Mbao police station for complicity in murder and was being held at Rebeuss prison. A warrant was immediately issued to bring him to court for questioning regarding the events related to the Yeumbeul case.
April 28, 2026: Prison transfer and hearing
On April 28, 2026, members of the Yeumbeul-Comico Research Brigade went to Rebeuss prison and brought the detainee back to the police station. The man gave his name: A. Ndao, born on October 25, 1994 in Diamaguène, claiming to be a merchant.
When questioned under oath, he admitted to some of the facts. While denying any direct involvement in the murder, he admitted to having sheltered MN in Bambilor just after the events and acknowledged that the latter had given him a sum of money, the origin of which he claimed to have been unaware.
April 29, 2026: taken to the prosecutor's office
On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, under the command of Commissioner Ousmane Diop, the Yeumbeul-Comico district police station brought A. Ndao before Prosecutor Saliou Dicko. He is being prosecuted for criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen goods, complicity in armed robbery committed at night with violence and the use of vehicles resulting in death, as well as for money laundering.
