[Billet d'humour] Pastef : le "Projet" de la désillusion ?
The “Project”… Ah, that word! Because it was written with a capital “P,” some thought it had already earned its place in the world heritage, somewhere between Teranga (hospitality) and the political balafon. It was no longer a slogan, but a civic religion. Its credo? “Diomaye mooy Sonko.” Loosely translated: two names, one destiny, and zero possibility of divorce.
And yet… Twenty-five (25) months later, the powerful anti-system software seems to have caught the very virus it promised to eradicate. The system hasn't been eliminated; it has changed its guise and reappeared.
On one hand, the Palace opens its doors to former dignitaries. Prime Ministers, former Ministers of the Interior, and veterans of the Republic parade by as if at a reunion of political veterans. This is called "national dialogue." Cynics, however, call it a casting call for season 2 of the dinosaurs' return.
On the other hand, the National Assembly becomes a stage where a comfortable majority rhymes with political discomfort. Sonko raises his voice, gets the deputies talking… before the decree speaks louder than everyone else.
Thus ends perhaps the greatest recent political romance: that of a "Project" which promised a break with the past and suddenly discovers the virtues of political recycling.
But is the Project truly dead? In Senegalese politics, nothing ever truly disappears. Ideas change, alliances shift, and yesterday's enemies often become tomorrow's honored guests.
Perhaps that, ultimately, is the true system: this extraordinary ability to survive those who swear to destroy it.
