Burkina Faso : Saisie et destruction de 4 500 poussins infectés par la grippe aviaire
In Burkina Faso, veterinary services, supported by the Gendarmerie, seized and destroyed on October 25, 2025, nearly 4,500 broiler chicks infected with avian flu, illegally introduced from a neighboring country affected by the epizootic.
This operation is part of the prevention policy of the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources, which suspended imports of broiler chicks at the beginning of October in order to protect the national livestock and public health.
The ministry, after consulting with industry stakeholders, has also set reference prices to prevent speculation. Finally, it calls for public vigilance and cooperation in the face of fraudulent imports.
