Conakry : une jeune femme venue de Sierra Leone tuée par balle à la Cimenterie

CONAKRY – A tragedy occurred on the night of Saturday 10 to Sunday 11 January 2026, in the Cimenterie district, in the Guinean capital.

Aïssatou Diallo, a young woman from Télimélé, who came from Sierra Leone to apply for a visa to France to join her husband living abroad, was fatally shot.

The victim, from the district of Kimbon, in the sub-prefecture of Brouwal Sounkin, was temporarily staying in Conakry.

According to her family, Aïssatou had left her home during the night, accompanied by a friend, to attend a wedding.

"She didn't want to go out, but her friend insisted."

Interviewed by SeneWeb Guinea on Monday, January 12, 2026, Kadiatou Diallo, the older sister of the deceased, gave a poignant testimony:

“One of her friends came to our house on Saturday to ask her to accompany her to a wedding. At first, Aïssatou didn’t want to go, but her friend insisted a lot until she agreed. Before she left, I reminded her that her husband was going to call her at 10 p.m.,” she explains.

It was around 6 a.m. on Sunday that the family learned the terrible news.

“A young man came to tell us that Aïssatou had been shot and was at the hospital in Entag, at T6. We went there immediately. On our arrival, we were taken to the morgue, where we found that she had already died,” says Kadiatou, her voice full of emotion.

A friend suspected and placed in police custody

According to the family, the victim's personal belongings — including her bag and phone — were handed over by her friend, who has now been arrested as part of the investigation.

"Aïssatou had only come to get her visa in order to join her husband in France. The girl she went out with is a childhood friend. They grew up together in the same neighborhood," explains the older sister.

The family was interviewed by the police, who have opened an investigation to shed light on this suspicious death.

“Yesterday, we were summoned to the police station. I told them everything I knew. The girl was arrested because she gave several different versions of the events,” Kadiatou confided.

"We simply want justice for Aïssatou."

Deeply affected, Oumou Diallo, the victim's younger sister, demands that justice be served.

“We are experiencing immense pain. When I saw my sister’s body, the impacts were visible. We demand justice for Aïssatou, in order to soothe our hearts. To date, we have not yet recovered her body,” she laments.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of this tragic death, which plunges an entire family into mourning and raises many questions in Conakry.
