Côte d’Ivoire : Laurent Gbagbo révoque plus d’une vingtaine de cadres de son parti, le PPA -CI, pour...
Laurent Gbagbo insists on discipline within the PPA-CI, his political party. The former Ivorian president has dismissed 22 party officials from their positions. This decision comes just weeks before the country's legislative elections.
Those dismissed did not respect the party's decision not to participate in the election. At least, that is what the statement announcing their dismissal indicates.
According to the document, it is "the responsibility of everyone, and even more so of those appointed by the president, to respect collective decisions, especially when these decisions embody the memory of the dead, the dignity of the wounded, and the distress of political prisoners."
"One cannot claim to be a member of the PPA-CI in times of honor and then disavow it in times of adversity."
"Discipline cannot be selective. It is the backbone of any serious political organization. One cannot claim to be part of the PPA-CI in times of honor and then abandon it in times of adversity," the statement also emphasizes.
It is worth recalling that Laurent Gbagbo had opposed the participation of the PPA-CI in the legislative elections on the grounds that the vote was scheduled too quickly, and that time was needed to mourn the pre-election violence.
"I am against the election in the short term. I think that preparing on the 12th to go to December is to cover up the wrongdoing that took place. It is to cover up the wounded and the dead that took place with a disdainful shroud," he had declared on November 6, during the session of the party's Central Committee.
They have "chosen disobedience and insubordination"
An “open, free and democratic” debate then took place within the political party and “each member was able to express their position. The Central Committee, the sovereign body of the Party, collectively decided not to participate in the legislative elections.”
For Laurent Gbagbo, it is clear that the dismissed cadres who did not respect the party line "chose disobedience and insubordination, by running in the legislative elections against the Party's decision."

Le parti de Gbagbo ne devrait pas boycotter les législatives. Pour la présidentielle le boycott était normal
