Découverte d'un vaste tunnel de transport de drogues entre le Maroc et l'Espagne, 27 personnes arrêtées
A vast underground tunnel used to transport drugs has been discovered between Morocco and Spain. The tunnel's entrance was located in Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in Morocco, opening onto a veritable labyrinth. Twenty-seven people have been arrested, and 17 tons of drugs have been seized.
Hidden behind a huge refrigerator, the entrance to a tunnel with three levels: a shaft to descend underground, an intermediate room to store packages of hashish and a straight corridor to Morocco, according to the Spanish Interior Ministry on Tuesday, March 31.
Authorities describe a veritable labyrinth, resembling a mine with wagons, rails, pulleys, and cranes for transporting pallets. All of this was housed under an industrial hangar, with a soundproofing system designed to avoid arousing suspicion.
It took the police a year to uncover this tunnel located in Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in Morocco.
In addition to the 17 tons of drugs seized, 1.4 million euros were recovered along with 17 luxury cars.
Drug trafficking is common in this region. Spain is one of the entry points for drugs into Europe, given its proximity to Morocco, the world's leading producer of cannabis.
