Djibouti : Suppression de la limite d’âge présidentielle
The Djiboutian parliament unanimously adopted a measure to remove the age limit for presidential candidates, allowing President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, 77, to run for another term in 2026.
The reform, approved by the 65 members of parliament present, is justified by the government as a guarantee of political stability, but denounced by the opposition and civil society as a power grab aimed at establishing a presidency for life.
