Élections du 28 décembre 2025 : Tensions et derniers préparatifs en Guinée
With 10 days to go before the election, Guinea is preparing for a decisive moment in its democratic life. Between last-minute campaigning, monitoring of the electoral lists, and citizens' concerns, the political atmosphere remains charged and tense.
A tense final race
Political parties are ramping up rallies and field visits to mobilize their voters. Alliances are being finalized, and every vote counts more than ever. "The period leading up to December 28th is crucial. All political actors are under pressure," explains political analyst Ibrahima Barry.
In the neighborhoods of Conakry, citizens' anxiety is palpable. "We want this vote to be transparent and peaceful. But we fear fraud or unrest," says Mariama, a shopkeeper in Matoto.
The Elections Directorate on the front line
The Elections Directorate, responsible for organizing the election, is finalizing the revision of the electoral lists, the distribution of voter cards, and the training of staff. The institution faces major challenges in ensuring the transparency and credibility of the process.
“Every detail counts. If citizens’ trust is not there, tensions could worsen,” warns Aminata Keita, a lawyer specializing in electoral law.
The opposition and civil society are also calling for increased monitoring to avoid any post-election disputes.
Citizens at the heart of the vote
For Guineans, this vote is not just a political issue: it will determine the country's future and future public policies. Young people, who make up a large part of the electorate, are expressing both hope and vigilance.
“Every vote is important. This is our chance to participate in the future of Guinea,” says Saliou Camara, a student in Conakry.
The crucial role of media and social networks
With the growing number of citizens getting their information online, social media plays a central role, but it also becomes a vector for rumors and disinformation. "We must be careful with information circulating on social media. Fake news can inflame the situation even before the vote," warns Ibrahima Barry.
Towards a decisive election under high vigilance
With 10 days to go until December 28th, Guinea finds itself at a major political turning point. The way the electoral process is managed and the transparency of the election will determine not only the outcome, but also the credibility of the institutions and the stability of the country.
"These last few days will be crucial. If everyone respects the rules, the country can emerge stronger. Otherwise, the risks of an alert are real," concludes Mr. Keita.
