Enseignement au Bénin : Talon ouvre les universités publiques aux militaires diplômés
In Benin, President Patrice Talon issued a decree last month authorizing military personnel to serve as teachers or researchers in Benin's public universities, research centers, and application facilities. This information was reported by the newspaper "Le Matinal."
To be eligible, personnel of the Defence and Security Forces must hold a doctorate, a doctoral engineering degree, a state doctorate in medicine and a diploma of specialized studies or hospital internship; a state diploma in pharmacy and a diploma of specialized studies or hospital clinician or any other equivalent qualifications.
"Service at a public university does not exempt military personnel from their professional obligations."
In addition to these diplomas, the military officer wishing to teach must also obtain the favorable opinion of the supervising minister and register in the national file of aspirants to higher education and successfully participate in the selection and knowledge assessment tests in accordance with the regulations in force.
The decree specifies that "service in a public university, research center or in an application structure does not exempt military personnel from their professional obligations in their corps and services, provided that they are not placed on leave of absence."
