Gitex Africa : La jeunesse sénégalaise à la conquête du continent

It's rare to see Senegal miss major events. This reputation is maintained, in part, thanks to the boldness of its young entrepreneurs and the support of both public and private organizations. The fourth edition of Gitex Africa Morocco, held in Marrakech, is attracting a large Senegalese delegation. The event brings together startups, investors, and technology players from across the continent from April 7th to 9th, 2026. Many Senegalese entrepreneurs are taking advantage of this opportunity to present their solutions and explore new development opportunities across the continent and the world.

In the aisles of the trade show, young companies from Senegal are showcasing projects covering a wide range of sectors, from marketing research and construction to the circular economy and cultural industries. Getting an interview with them can be quite a feat, as potential clients flock to their booths.

Looka Research: Consumer data at the service of African businesses

Among the entrepreneurs from Senegal attending this gathering of African technology and innovation was Serigne Fall, founder of Looka Research. The platform he created offers companies research tools on consumer habits in Africa. He describes the objective of his initiative as follows: "It's a research platform that uses AI and a network of human researchers to help companies collect consumer data in Africa. The benefit is that it's a platform that companies use to better understand consumer habits and perceptions."

The solution allows companies to conduct different types of studies to guide their business decisions. "For example, if I'm a company in the consumer goods sector, I can conduct different types of research studies, whether it's to understand customer satisfaction, to expand into a new market, or even to launch a new product or service. The idea is to be able to talk to these consumers, understand their needs, their current situation, and perhaps the existing competition, which will allow us to make strategic decisions," he explains.

Its system relies on data collection from various profiles. The founder explains that the company surveys individuals, retailers, and small businesses alike in order to gain a broader perspective on consumer behavior.

Limited internet access in some areas of the continent led the startup to adapt its tool: “Yes, exactly. That was even the reason we started, because we noticed at the beginning that most existing research tools were mainly digital. And what we saw is that in Africa, generally speaking, there is still a large part of the population, as you said, that is illiterate, that doesn't have the ability, or even access to the internet, and that doesn't have the capacity to participate in this type of interview.”

To overcome this difficulty, the company combines digital tools and fieldwork. People with smartphones can respond to surveys online. Trained interviewers also work directly with the population. Serigne Fall explains that these young people, often university graduates, use a mobile application to interview consumers in various settings, from urban markets to rural areas.

The startup began operations in Senegal before expanding to other African markets. Its founder mentions several collaborations with major companies and announces plans to develop in English-speaking markets such as Kenya and Nigeria. The company is also working to enhance the automation of its research and integrate more artificial intelligence.

Keureo, building remotely with peace of mind

Another Senegalese startup present in Marrakech is developing a solution for the construction sector. Adama Ndiaye heads Keureo, a company that offers a system for monitoring and certifying construction sites. She summarizes her business: “We are a technological solution applied to the construction industry. We are a trusted third party that offers our clients monitoring and certification of the execution of their projects, whether they are abroad or even in Senegal.”

Her project relies on the presence of engineers responsible for monitoring the progress of the work through constant follow-up. The company then transmits the information to clients to validate payments. "We certify that the contractor has properly completed the work, as far as I'm concerned. There is an engineer present at each site to verify what is happening and that everything is done correctly. After that, we tell the clients that it's okay, they can proceed with the disbursement," she says.

According to its creator, Keureo was born out of a situation frequently mentioned by real estate investors, particularly those living in the diaspora. Adama Ndiaye explains the origin of the project: "It stems from lived experience. Many people in the diaspora, and even Senegalese themselves, have experienced this problem: scams, shoddy workmanship, and lost investments in construction. We see it every day."

The founder explains that the company acts as an intermediary between the client and the service provider. According to her, requests are already coming from beyond Senegal's borders. She says she has received inquiries from several countries, including Morocco. She believes this African technology fair provides an ideal platform to identify new partners and explore establishing a presence in West Africa.

Kucibok: Structuring and Connecting the African Art Ecosystem

Among the areas presented by the Senegalese delegation, the cultural sector was well represented. Moctar Sidibé presented the Kucibok platform in Marrakech, designed to structure the African art ecosystem. "Kucibok, as its name suggests, is a platform combined with software that currently has a dual purpose. On the African side, it focuses more on structuring the art ecosystem today," he explained.

The platform offers artists digital tools to organize their work and document their creations. For Moctar Sidibé, this platform is timely in a sector that remains largely informal. He points out that some artists lack certificates of authenticity or appropriate management tools. The initiative therefore aims to guide these artists toward international standards.

The solution also includes a second component aimed at players in the global art market. Moctar Sidibé explains that the platform facilitates connections with the African art ecosystem while contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage.

The company already supports several thousand artists across Senegal, Ivory Coast, and Benin. Its founder states that the platform offers digital tools, training, and various services designed to improve the management of artworks and relationships with collectors.

Solaat: Modernizing thrift stores through online commerce

No more long hours spent in markets searching for the perfect secondhand garment in popular markets like Liberté 6 or Petersen. Seynabou Sagne presents Solaat, a platform dedicated to selling secondhand clothing. "Solaat is the first secondhand e-commerce platform in Senegal. So, typically, today, we realized that the secondhand clothing market is very fragmented," she explains.

The startup collects clothing from local markets before sorting, cleaning, and listing it online. Customers can view the item details and order directly from the platform. The platform's founder explains how it works in more detail: "When you order from the site, the product page will not only show photos of the item, but also the price and measurements, such as sleeve length, chest circumference, etc. And then you can place your order. No matter where you are in Senegal, we'll deliver the item to you, and you'll receive it ready to wear."

The founder also announced that the company is preparing to evolve into a marketplace model. The platform plans to integrate a quality control system to verify the quality of items offered by sellers.
