Guinée : Le président Doumbouya réitère sa "main tendue" à Dalein, Alpha Condé et Sidya Touré
CONAKRY – Following up on his address to the nation, President Mamadi Doumbouya reiterated his call for national unity and reconciliation among all Guineans, regardless of political affiliation. This appeal, symbolized by his "outstretched hand," is also directed at the main opposition figures: Cellou Dalein Diallo, Alpha Condé, and Sidya Touré.
The goal, according to the head of state, is to build a new Guinea, founded on peace, justice and shared prosperity.
“Building a new Guinea together”
In his address, the president-elect delivered a message of openness and unity: "I solemnly call upon all the sons and daughters of our nation, both at home and abroad, to come together to build a new Guinea: a Guinea of peace, a Guinea of justice, a Guinea of shared prosperity, and a Guinea of fully assumed political and economic sovereignty."
Mamadi Doumbouya added that he is ready to collaborate with all the vital forces of the country to build a sustainable future: "For my part, I will extend my hand to all the daughters and sons of our country in order to build together a prosperous and sustainable future."
Ousmane Gaoual Diallo: “The president’s hand does not waver”
The presidential message was reaffirmed on Thursday by the government spokesperson, Ousmane Gaoual Diallo, who stressed the inclusive nature of this outstretched hand.
"The outstretched hand of the Head of State does not waver. It is there, it is open. He reaffirmed that it is all Guineans who have won. It is not the victory of one man, but that of the people of Guinea," he declared.
The government spokesperson clarified that this appeal is addressed to all Guineans, whether they live in the country or abroad: "The hand is extended to all Guineans, whether they are inside or outside the country, so that together we can consolidate peace."
The return of exiles at the heart of the debate
When asked about the possible return to Guinea of political leaders Cellou Dalein Diallo, Sidya Touré and Alpha Condé, currently in exile, Ousmane Gaoual Diallo was categorical: "There are no exiles as such who can't return to their country. Cellou can come, and Sidya can return. Sidya is not facing any legal proceedings."
Regarding the president of the UFDG, he added:
“Cellou can come. There is no prohibition against him returning to Guinea. But he says: ‘If I come, I have to answer to the justice system, I don’t want to come.’ It’s a personal choice. So there is no obstacle to his return,” he said.
A sign of political openness
This message from President Doumbouya and his government comes in a post-election context marked by expectations of reconciliation and political stability.
By calling for overcoming divisions and reaffirming his desire to unite all Guineans, the president wants to send a signal of appeasement and national unity.
